Forgot to post these pics from my birthday dinner - my mom surprised me with my favorite food at a local Japanese restaurant in Seattle.
Plenty of Tonkatsu, Gyoza and Edamame and my parents even tried Tako-yaki (octupus balls)!!

My latest baking endeavor: sushi cupcakes.
They are primarily made of cupcakes that I frosted and rolled in sugar for the “rice.” The “seaweed” is green fruit leather and the centers and tops are made of various candies including Swedish Fish, Red Hots and sour strips. The shrimp is made of Starburst that I melted and molded like clay. I used a package from the Japanese market that previously had mochi in it and just used new saran wrap.
On deck: Harry Potter cupcakes.

Gotta love the swedes. And Japanese fascination with foreign foods :D
I have an addiction to Japanese fashion. And food. And the language.
